Esxence Fotoreport 1: I profumi Blood / Blood Perfumes

L’idea dietro alle fragranze Blood è di quelle intellettualmente stimolanti: interpretare attraverso quattro fragranze l’evoluzione del sangue umano, elemento vitale al contempo misterioso e primitivo, attrattivo e repulsivo. Il profumo “0” racconta il sangue dell’uomo primitivo cacciatore, da cui l'evoluzione fece nascere il tipo “A” (l’uomo cacciatore diventa anche coltivatore), al “B” (l’uomo vive in tribù e si scambia sangue e patrimonio genetico con le altre tribù) fino all’”AB” (l’uomo moderno, industriale, lontano dalla terra e dalla parte più animale di sé stesso). In questi profumi l’intellettualità è solo nel nome, perché poi risultano istintivi, immediati, costruiti con note metalliche, asciutte, senza fiori, senza fronzoli nè piacevolezze scontate. Acchiappano… se ti acchiappano. Se li lasci entrare e non ti irrigidisci. A me sono piaciuti, li ho trovati interessanti, non banali, in particolare l’A e il B: anice stellato, foglie di pomodoro e legno di cedro il primo, tè nero, melograno, artemisia, patchouli e legno di tek il secondo. Come vedete dalla foto il flacone ha il contagocce, un particolare che non solo ricorda la goccia di sangue ma rende più intimo il gesto di profumarsi.

The idea behind Blood fragrances is intellectually stimulating: four scents to evoke the evolution of human blood, a mysterious vital liquid both primitive and mysterious, attractive and repulsive. Perfume "0" tells the blood of the primitive hunter, from which the other were born, "A" is the man who become farmer, "B" is the man living in tribes exchanging blood and DNA with other tribes,  "AB" is the modern  post-industrial man separated from the earth and his most animal self. The intellectuality is in only in the name, because perfumes are instinctive, immediate, notes are metallic, dry, without flowers, frills and any other perfumed amenity.
If you let them in and don’t stiffen, they’ll catch you. I enjoyed their weirdness a lot, especially A and B: the first features notes of star anise, tomato leaves and cedarwood, while the second features black tea, pomegranate, wormwood, patchouli and teak wood. The bottle has no spray but a pipette, evoking the idea of blood-drops and making the gesture of perfuming oneself even more intimate.
