Chissà se lo avrei mai provato di mia spontanea volontà, e invece..." Il profumo è costruito intorno ad un accordo ricco ed esuberante di note legnose/speziate/gourmand la cui modernità salta subito agli occhi: non solo perché il filone gourmand in campo maschile è roba degli ultimi 15 anni (più o meno è contemporaneo di altri profumi con accordi simili: New Harleem di Bond N.9, Rochas Man) ma anche perché include la nota di oud , che sebbene risulti seminascosta in mezzo a tale ricchezza di sensazioni, si percepisce piuttosto bene e lo smaschera come lancio di quest'ultimo decennio.

When I sprayed Bogart City Tower I thought "I would have never tried this of my own free will, but... well, it's quite something!" The fragrance is built around a rich and exuberant accord of woody/spicy/gourmand notes , whose modernity is immediately obvious, not only because the gourmand trend in men's scents dates the last 15 years (BCT is more or less contemporary with scents featuring similar accords, such as New Haarlem by Bond N.9 and Rochas Man) but also because it includes oud ; although it is hidden in the midst of such a wealth of sparkling sensations, you detect it pretty easily, revealing this as a launch from the last decade.

Versace L'Homme lo sto provando ormai da diversi giorni e tutte le volte che lo indosso mi ritrovo a chiedermi: "Ma perché io di questo profumo non sapevo nulla?" E' moderno, ben costruito e con molte sfaccettature diverse, nessuna delle quali va "persa" inutilmente : c'è la direzione agrumata dominata da agrumi secchi e amari, quella aromatica con una bellissima nota basilico, costosa e non così facile da trovare, un cuore fiorito di garofano e rosa, una sfaccettatura legnosa di sandalo e patchouli; dopo venti minuti emerge poi una nota di pelle morbida come un paio di confortevoli mocassini di suede un po' usati, che rende il profumo indimenticabile. Inoltre, ha una presenza più che soddisfacente sulla pelle, si proietta abbastanza ma senza strafare e dura tantissimo, otto ore belle filate!

I've been testing Versace L'Homme for several days now, and every time I wear it I find myself asking: "Why I knew nothing of this perfume?" It feels contemporary and well structured, with many different facets, none of which goes "lost" : the citrus opening is dry and bitter, the aromatic facet features a beautiful, expensive basil note not so easy to find, the floral heart is refined with rose and carnation, and the woody base is all cedar, sandalwood and patchouli; after twenty minutes then, a touch of soft skin -like a pair of comfortable suede moccasins- emerges, making this scent unforgettable. Also, it has a more than satisfactory presence on skin, projects enough without overdoing, and lasts a lot: a good eight hours!

Oggi vi parlo di Britannia , un profumo lanciato da Roja Dove nel 2012 per celebrare il sessantesimo anno di regno della Regina Elisabetta. L'ispirazione per la creazione di questo profumo proviene dal culmine della cerimonia di incoronazione, ovvero il momento in cui la Regina venne unta con l'olio sacro, suggerendo così al popolo l'idea che ella sia diventata Regina perché così è stato deciso da Dio. A me, che sono cittadina di una Repubblica e non mi sento tanto vicina nemmeno al cristianesimo, questi argomenti non fanno alcun effetto, ma certo è una gran bella storia per un profumo... soprattutto se devi giustificare un cartellino da 600 euro. Britannia è la mia "prima volta" con Roja Dove, non avevo mai annusato nulla di questo compositore inglese e ho potuto provarlo grazie a Cristian (ovvero Adjiumi, cliccate qui per il forum) che ringrazio di cuore.

Britannia is a fragrance by Roja Dove , launched in 2012 to celebrate the sixtieth year of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth's reign. The inspiration behind the creation of this fragrance comes from the coronation ceremony, that time when the Queen is anointed with holy oil, thus suggesting the idea that she (or King) is such by God's  will. As citizen of a Republic, and with no particular interest in Christian religion, I find these topics hardly fascinating, nonetheless I understand they make a great story for a perfume (especially if you have to justify a price tag of 600 euros). Britannia (why "Britannia" in Latin and not "Britain" in English? What a strange choice!) is my "first time" with Roja Dove, I had never smelled anything by this composer and I could try it thanks to my friend Cristian (ie Adjiumi, click here for the forum). 

Graine de Joie by Firmenich's Daphne Bugey is the eleventh fragrance launched by the Italian niche house Eau d'Italie ( site ), a brand constantly launching fragrances beautiful and/or interesting (as well as some masterpieces), at an amazing annual pace. Graine de Joie is exactly like you would expect looking at the pack and knowing the history of Eau d'Italie: a teenage riding her shiny red bike in the summer,  going to meet her boyfriend . It's a mischievous smile, a sunray, a cherry lollipop, a sunset cocktail, a fire-red dress with white sunglasses.  The scent is sweet-sour with red fruit and ripe pomegranate, and gently floral with freesia. At the base, cedar wood and a handful of those bright white musk Firmenich is a specialist of;  some flankers of Bulgari Omnia (Crystalline, Amethyst and Coral) come to mind, all suffused with the same sophisticated, luminescent trail . Graine de Joie , di Daphne Bugey (Firmenich) è l'undicesima fragranza di Eau d'Italie  ( sito ), un marchio italiano capace di lanciare fragranze belle e interessanti (oltre a qualche capolavoro), con una costanza che a parer mio, pochi altri possono vantare.  Graine de Joie è esattamente come te l'aspetteresti guardando il pack e conoscendo la storia di Eau d'Italie: una ragazza giovane e vivace, in vacanza, che pedala sulla sua bici rossa fiammante per andare ad incontrare il suo fidanzatino estivo. E' un sorriso malizioso, un raggio di sole, un leccalecca alla ciliegia, un cocktail al tramonto, un vestito rosso fuoco con gli occhiali da sole bianchi . E' fresca, dolce e acidula di frutti rossi e melograno maturo, gentilmente fiorita di fresia. Alla base, legno di cedro e una manciata di quei luminosi muschi bianchi di cui Firmenich è specialista ; vengono in mente certi flanker di Omnia di Bulgari (Crystalline, Ametiste e Coral), con la stessa scia lumine

And finally, I could explore Alessandro Gualtieri' s new line  Orto Parisi ( website ): Stercus, Brutus, Boccanera, Viride and Bergamask . I have so much to tell you and in fact, after exploring the scents calmly in the next weeks, I'll write a long post. For now I'm just giving you some info and suggest, if you have the opportunity, to pick them all to sniff. Because they are well made, sensual, with a taste for harmony and roundness typical of great classic perfumery, and then feature full-bodied and engaging notes (animal notes, resins and woods of both natural and synthetic origin). Smelling them, you may understand how Alessandro is different from a few years ago when his talent  highlighted also his provocativeness. Today the provocativeness is still there - obviously he's fun with it- but it's flanked by maturity, a sense of self-confidence and satisfaction in paying homage to his roots, to a much loved grandfather (Vincenzo Parisi, and the Orto -that me

E finalmente, ho potuto esplorare la nuova linea di Alessandro Gualtieri: Orto Parisi  ( sito ). Ho tantissimo da scrivere e infatti appena riesco ad ri-annusare i cinque profumi con calma gli dedicherò un lungo post, per ora mi limito a darvi qualche info e a consigliarvi, se avete la possibilità, di andarli ad annusare. Perché sono ben fatti, armoniosi, seducenti, con un gusto per la rotondità e la sensualità tipico della grande profumeria classica, e quindi con note corpose e coinvolgenti (note animali, resine e legni di origine sia naturale che sintetica). Annusandole, si capisce quanto Alessandro sia ormai diverso da qualche anno fa, quando il suo talento era sottolineato dalla voglia di stupire, di provocare. Oggi la provocazione è sempre lì -evidentemente lo diverte- ma è affiancata da una maturità, da una confidenza che non ha bisogno di dimostrare alcunché, e che trova soddisfazione nel rendere omaggio alle proprie radici, ad un nonno molto amato  (Vincenzo Parisi; l'Ort
