Bergamotto e Benzoino

È da un paio di giorni che ho voglia di indossare solo profumi sfidanti e insoliti che abbiano un temperamento da tenere a bada. La mia scelta in questi giorni è caduta su Latex , una fragranza della linea Uermì .  Tempo fa lo avevo recensito per il loro sito ( qui ) e avevo scritto che era il più interessante profumo ozonico/marino che avessi mai provato. E indossandolo ora, non ho affatto cambiato idea. La partenza è marina, fresca, ariosa, salata, con una sensazione di semplicità e pulizia molto moderna, tipica di tutte le fragranze della famiglia ozonica/marina, che uniscono alla brillantezza smaltata delle aldeidi, la freschezza delle note marine . Qui in più c'è la sensazione pungente e metallica, molto interessante, dell’ossido di rosa. Se la fragranza finisse qui, Latex potrebbe essere un marino tra i tanti, e non avrei motivo di indossarlo in questi giorni “strani”. In the last days I reached only for challenging and unusual perfumes, things that have a temperament to hold off. My choice fell often on Latex, a fragrance in the Uermì line . Some time ago I had reviewed it for their site (here); I wrote that it was the most interesting ozonic/marine scent I'd ever tried. And wearing it now, I realize I have not changed my mind a bit: it is the only representative of this family I've ever had the wish to wear. The start is fresh, airy, salty, with a feeling of very modern simplicity and cleanliness, typical of all the fragrances in the ozonic family, combining the glazed brilliance of aldehydes and the freshness of marine notes. Latex also features the pungent and metallic feeling, very interesting, of rose oxide. If the fragrance ended here, Latex may be one in a sea of many, and I would have had no reason to wear it in these "strange" days. E' un po' che non vi parlo della Maison  Frapin ( sito qui ) , e un po' me ne dispiace perchè le fragranze di questa linea esprimono alcune caratteristiche che me le fanno amare quasi tutte: sono attuali, eleganti, indossabili, con dentro delle  belle idee e, spesso, anche belle materie prime. The Orchid Man  possiede le stesse caratteristiche delle sue “sorelle” ma in più, mi ha colpito per la ricchezza fiorita della composizione, dedicata ad un personaggio maschile .  The Orchid Man infatti (“L'Homme à l'Orchidèe”) era il soprannome di un pugile francese, Georges Carpentier, che dopo una carriera di livello mondiale sul ring, negli anni 30, diventa prima un aviatore decorato, poi un attore di teatro e cinema -ha recitato in film sia muti che sonori-  poi un uomo d'affari a Wall Street e per finire apre il primo cocktail Bar a Parigi. I noticed I haven't written anything about Frapin ( website here ) in quite a while and I'm sorry because this line of fragrances express those characteristics that make me fall for almost all of them: up to date, stylish, wearable, rich in beautiful ideas and, often, in raw materials too. The Orchid Man, the newly launched in this line, features the same characteristics of its scent "sisters" but in addition, I was struck by the floral wealth of the composition , dedicated to a male character.  The Orchid Man in fact ("L'Homme à l'Orchidèe” ) was the nickname of a French boxer of the 30s named Georges Carpentier, who after a successful career on the ring, first became a decorated aviator, then a theater and movie actor -he acted in both silent and sound movies- then he turned into a Wall Street businessman; then finally opened the first cocktail bar in Paris. A man of many talents and a thousand lives, who continues to fascinate many decades later.

Da pochi mesi è uscita la nuova collezione di MiN New York ( sito qui )  . Conoscete già il mio amore per questo marchio, capace di creare una linea di piccoli capolavori di una bellezza commovente ( qui i miei post ).  Oggi vi parlo di Chef's Table, Coda e Forever Now , tra i più belli di questa nuova linea.  Inizio col mio preferito: Chef's Table , un mix di frutta (bergamotto), fiori (iris e rosa turca), aromi (salvia, basilico) ed erbe del giardino (foglia di pomodoro), accoccolati su un fondo di muschio, fava tonka e ambra grigia. Sottile, trasparente, luminoso come le prime giornate di primavera , lievemente gourmand ma non in maniera sfacciata, ricorda il lavoro di uno chef d'avanguardia capace di comporre quei piatti creativi, colorati, bellissimi, creativi, in cui non mangi nulla di cotto in maniera tradizionale, ma i sapori ti divertono e ti lasciano sorpreso ed esilarato per l'esperienza. A few months ago the new collection of MiN New York scents was launched. You already know my love for this brand, that in the first line was able to create a bunch of masterpieces of moving beauty ( here is my post ). Today I'm reviewing Chef's Table, Coda and Forever Now , among the most beautiful of the new line.  My favorite is Chef's Table , a mix of fruit (bergamot), flowers (iris and Turkish rose), spices (clary sage, basil) and garden herbs (tomato leaves), sitting on a base of musk, tonka bean and ambergris. Thin, transparent, as bright as the first days of spring , slightly gourmand but not in a vanilla way, recalls the work of a cutting edge chef, renowned for his/her creative dishes, colorful, beautiful, where you do not eat anything cooked in traditional manner, but you enjoy unusual flavors, and the experience leaves you surprised and exhilarated. Dopodomani ricomincia Esxence , evviva!  Non vedo l'ora di rivedere amici, annusare delizie, ri-annusare cose che mi sono persa, e farmi sorprendere da qualche novità di valore. Tra le cose che mi sono segnata, sicuramente voglio andare ad annusare in casa Insitut Tres Bien , che presenta tre profumatori ambiente di cui so già che m'innamorerò, oltre a tre nuovi profumi persona. Poi, nella mia lista c'è il nuovo lancio di Uermì , un profumo che omaggia un innovativo e tecnologico tessuto di latte (sì, sì lo so, "tessuto di latte" suona come se le fibre fossero estratte dal latte. E siccome è proprio così, non vedo l'ora di sentire che odore abbiano). Uermì è una linea che mi piace, e so già che non rimarrò delusa. Poi, il brand Onyrico . L'anno scorso me lo sono perso e non sono più riuscita ad annusarlo! Poi, Anatole Lebreton . Io ho adorato la sua Eau de Merzhim,  e anche Bois Lumiere e Incarnata sono fragranze davvero notevoli. Un marchio che ho potuto conoscere a Firenze, durante Pitti Fragranze, è quello di Rania J . (sito qui ) ovvero Rania Jouaneh, che oltre ad esserne la fondatrice è anche colei che compone le fragranze. Rania, cresciuta a Parigi, ha conservato un gusto orientale per la profumeria e questo si riflette chiaramente nelle fragranze che compone: rosa, gelsomino, spezie e legni sono trattati in maniera sontuosa, profonda, intensa, spremendone il succo fino all'ultima goccia e valorizzandole come gemme preziose . Le fragranze infatti, sono nate per omaggiare la nota di cui portano il nome: Rose Ishtar, Oud Assam, Jasmin Kama, Ambre Loup, Lavande 44, Tobacco Habanero . Non so se questo marchio abbia già trovato un distributore in Italia, ma sarebbe bello, perché i profumi lo meritano davvero.   A brand that I got to know in Florence during Pitti Fragranze was Rania J. (website here ) Rania Jouaneh namely, is both the founder of the brand and the composer beyond the fragrances. Rania, raised in Paris, has retained a taste for oriental perfumes and this is clearly reflected in her fragrances: rose, jasmine, spices and woods are treated like precious gems in a sumptuous, deep, intense, way, squeezing the juice to the last drop.  The fragrances in fact, are born to pay homage to the note referred to in the name: Rose Ishtar, Oud Assam, Jasmin Kama, Ambre Loup, Lavande 44, Tobacco Habanero . The scents are available in 50ml bottles of edp -eau de parfum- and possess all the characteristics that I associate with successful perfume : well estabilished on the skin, long living, with some degree of complexity and originality.   In short, they are beautifully crafted perfumes, without unnecessary frills around . Quando, tempo fa, ho saputo che Institut Tres Bien  (sito qui ) aveva ripreso produrre i suoi profumi, e che quindi  avrei potuto acquistarli di nuovo, la giornata mi è subito cambiata in meglio. Io ho avuto per lungo tempo la Cologne à la Francaise e quella à l'Italienne e me le splashavo addosso con un gusto pazzesco.  Esisteva anche la Cologne à la Russe , ma io avevo preso il Très Russe , che non era una Colonia, ed era ancora più cuoiaio e intenso della Cologne omonima.  Sul Très Russe si stanno organizzando, ma le Cologne sono disponibili tutte e tre. Triplo urrà!!! Condividono la base standard delle Colonie, ovvero agrumi frizzanti (bergamotto, limone, lime e cedro, più la neroli) e note aromatiche (lavanda, rosmarino, verbena). Ma il fondo, non è esattamente quello di una Colonia, perchè tutte e tre hanno un accordo iris + benzoino, che le rende morbide, vellutate e lievemente più durevoli di una Colonia standard: sia l'iris che il benzoino sono infatti note c

When, few months ago, I was informed that Institut Tres Bien (website here ) had resumed production, and that I could buy again their three Cologne, the day immediately changed for the better. I have long owned the Cologne à la Francaise and that à l'Italienne  which I used to splash with pure bliss. Also the Cologne à la Russe used to exist but I had purchased the Très Russe , instead which was not a Cologne, and thus was even more intense and leathery. On Très Russe they are still working, but all three Cologne are available now. Triple hurray!!! They share the basic Cologne standards: sparkling citrus (bergamot, lemon, lime and cedar, plus neroli) and aromatic notes (lavender, rosemary, verbena). La seconda fragranza del marchio HomoElegans  (sito  qui ) , “ Quality of Flesh” si ispira al pittore Francis Bacon , che disse “Mi piacciono gli uomini. Mi piace il loro cervello, mi piace la qualità della loro carne”. Il sito HomoElegans dice:” Ubriaco di gin nei pub di Soho. Un impasto di fumo e risate grottesche. Scava e trasuda la sua arte, voracemente come inghiotte la vita. Le strade londinesi umide e buie, ricche di sensazioni, attrazioni e tentazioni. Le feroci eccitazioni del corpo maschile. Muscoli, pelo e carne. Un breve oblio che allenta la costante trazione dello spirito. Un amore tenero e violento nato dalle fragilità di uomini esclusi ”. Anche qui sono rimasta sorpresa di come Michele abbia saputo tradurre tutto ciò in un profumo. C'è il fumo, l'alcol, la poesia dell'incontro unita all'animalità feroce, il sudore, la disperazione appena mitigata dall'attrazione fisica …  La fragranza non è per nulla dolce, addomesticata o “sobria”
