Bergamotto e Benzoino

Tomorrow, the sixth edition of Esxence ( site ) will open at the beautiful location of Milan Triennale (Viale Alemagna 6). Here's my list of things I'd like to sniff:

Domani prende avvio la sesta edizione di Esxence ( sito ), nel bello spazio della della Triennale di Milano (Viale Alemagna 6). Anche quest'anno ho già una lista di cose che vorrei assolutamente annusare, mi fa piacere condividerla con voi:

Il 20-23 Marzo si svolgerà alla triennale di Milano la sesta edizione del salone della profumeria " Esxence " ( sito qui ). Anche quest'anno ci sono buone ragioni per visitarlo di cui vi parlerò in seguito, per il momento vi presento l'evento che mi coinvolge direttamente, organizzato per giovedì 20 alle 17.30 e intitolato " Viaggio polisensoriale tra i profumi di Edmond Roudnitska ".  Ho organizzato l'incontro come una sorta di passeggiata polisensoriale nell'universo profumato di Edmond Roudnitska, e inizierò presentando questo grande compositore, la sua visione estetica in profumeria e tre dei suoi lavori più amati , tutt'oggi indossati in tutto il mondo: Femme (1943, Rochas), l' Eau d'Hermes (1951, Hermes), Diorella (1970, Dior), che grazie al contributo degli amici dell'Osmothèque di Versailles verranno presentate e fatte annusare al pubblico in versione originale. The three fragrances of the "sanguines/bloody" line are dedicated to three fine wines, pyramids feature fascinating notes of liqueurs: Champagne (Dom Rose), Porto (Bello Rabelo) and Burgundy (Bloody Wood). 

Le tre fragranze "sanguigne" invece sono dedicate a tre vini pregiati e nella piramide mostrano affascinanti note liquorose: Champagne (Dom Rosa), Porto (Bello Rabelo) e Borgogna (Bloody Wood). 

Uno tra i nuovi marchi più interessanti incontrati l'anno scorso era " Les Liquides Imaginaires ", creato dal designer Philippe Di Meo con la collaborazione di David Frossard (fondatore di Differentes Latitudes). I n genere diffido dai marchi che mostrano un impianto visivo così forte e sofisticato (i flaconi sono oggetti bellissimi, si intuisce lo studio che vi sta dietro) perché più di una volta non ho ritrovato lo stesso livello qualitativo nel contenuto... Così finisce che i marchi troppo "fighetti" sono tra quelli che esploro con più calma, solo quando ho finito la mia esplorazione di tutti gli altri. Pregiudizi? Sì li ho, e spesso ho anche ragione. Ma non è questo il caso. Le sei fragranze proposte da questa maison sono suddivise in due linee: " Eaux delà " e " Eaux sanguines ", in un gioco di parole che identifica le prime tre fragranze come fragranze di ispirazione "spirituale" e le seconde tre come "terrene".

One of the most exciting new brands I had met last year was " Les Liquides Imaginaires ", created by designer Philippe Di Meo with the collaboration of David Frossard (founder of  Differentes Latitudes). Rarely I'm attracted by brands showing a stress on the visual aspect of the product  since more than once I didn't find the same quality inside the bottles, so generally I explore these later, when I finish my exploration of all the others. Prejudices? Yes, and often I'm right.  But this is not the case. The six fragrances offered by "Les Liquides Imaginaires" are divided into two lines: " Eaux delà " and " Eaux sanguines " in a game of words that identifies the first three as "sacred" and the second three as "worldly".

( quest post inizia qui )  AB Cashmere (by Jean Jacques) features a cool, sophisticated incense (far away from any idea of ​​church) in which jasmine and osmanthus are immersed. The accord starts fresh and delicately flowery like a breeze ruffling the mirror surface of a lake, and then develops a fruity undertone (osmanthus) and a slightly animal/leather one (indole, present in both), making it a more complex and interesting scent than it seems at first sniff. NO Suede is the most outspoken of the line: saffron, leather and incense are a trio which seduces immediately. The suede comes off clear, with a soft, comfortable feeling reminiscent of an Harley rider's jacket (the rider's dedicated to fine perfumery, of course!). A velvety, liqueur-y scent, slightly gourmand, which smells expensive (saffron) and suggests Harley rides to distant lands.

( questo post inizia qui ) AB Cashmere  (Jean Jacques) ha una base di incenso freddo e sofisticato (lontanissimo dall'idea di chiesa), unito a gelsomino e osmanto, che all'inizio presentano una sensazione fresca e delicatamente fiorita, come una brezza che increspi la superficie specchiante di un lago. Dopo pochi minuti sviluppano un sottotono fruttato (l'osmanto) e  lievemente animale/cuoiato (la parte indolica di entrambi). E' un profumo ben più complesso e interessante di quanto non sembri ad un primo sniffo... NO Suede è il più diretto: zafferano, pelle e incenso sono un trio che seduce immediatamente. La pelle arriva subito chiara e forte, ma la sensazione non somiglia per niente al chiodo "vissuto" di un fan dei Pearl Jam, piuttosto al morbido giubbotto di un Harleysta dedito alla profumeria raffinata. Una pelle vellutata, liquorosa e vagamente gourmand, che odora di "costoso" (sarà senz'altro lo zafferano) e di viaggi in terre lonta

The idea behind this new Italian niche line named " Uermì " is to combine fashion and fragrances (namely, the owner's two passions). In fact, the olfactive interpretation of fabric is not a brand new concept: google any type of fabric (Silk, Cashmere, Tweed, Suede, Organza, Linen, Chiffon) and you'll see dozens scents both new and vintage bearing these names, which means the idea is good. 

Cari partecipanti al primo gioco dell'anno, avete ricevuto le fialette dei profumi Uermì ? Perché se volete introdurvi nel discorso potete farlo quando volete (e naturalmente potete anche farlo se li avete sentiti per altre vie non legate a questo blog...) Allora, diciamo subito che dietro questa nuova linea italiana ci sono il gusto e l'amore per il profumo di Palmiro Peaquin, che ha richiesto a Philippe Bousseton, Jean Jacques e Antoine Lie di Takasago la composizione di quattro fragranze che ricordano i tessuti che lui ama di più: Velluto, Denim, Pelle, Cashmere . L'idea è quella di coniugare moda e profumi, ovvero le sue due passioni, e chi conosce Palmiro capirà subito che questa non è solo un'idea interessante, ma qualcosa che gli appartiene davvero.  

Today I'll show you pics of a newly released book, " Parfums Rares " published  by Osmothèque ( website ) in collaboration with Terre Bleue. The book presents artistic perfumery as a new and important niche inside the perfumery market,  and presents some brands of particular interest. Pages are full of pictures, the text provides anecdotes and brands' histories.  There is also an English edition, entitled "Rare Perfumes" . It is important to purchase it because it's interesting and well done,  but especially because it finances the activity of collection, study and conservation the Osmothèque carries on in Versailles. Osmothèque is in fact the only perfume library in the world, the place where thousands of rare fragrances are safeguarded, including some very old and vintages that made the history of perfumery and unfortunately have completely disappeared.  I had already written about them  here ,  here  and  here Those who wish to support
