Bergamotto e Benzoino

Iperborea, or "Hyperborea". That means: "beyond Borea". That means, "beyond the area where the cold wind blows." That means, where cold has been defeated once for all, and the climate is mild, sheep give birth to their lambs three times a year, and the generous land allows more crops. Where nature is so rich that fruits dry on trees and dozens of rivers roll over hills covered with lush forests. The perfect land, ancient Atlantis, the island of eternal spring.

... e se non ci siete dovreste pensare di andarci apposta, perchè c'è un bellissimo evento gustativo-olfattivo: " Il Gusto del Profumo ". Gli organizzatori della serata, che mischia appunto gusto e olfatto, sono Magnifiscent ( La Gardenia nell'occhiello ) e Antonio ( Boudoir36 ), competentissimi appassionati tanto di profumi quanto di gastronomia.  E poichè io non potrò andarci, aspetto (sbavando) che qualcuno mi racconti le meraviglie che assaggerete. Devo dire che ero partita un pò prevenuta: le bottiglie che contengono i profumi non mi dicevano niente di promettente, le trovavo davvero poco attraenti. E' vero che dal vivo la sensazione migliora rispetto alle foto, il vetro satinato opaco ha un feeling molto piacevole al tocco e le proporzioni sono perfette ma continuavo a trovare brutto il tappo. Le fragranze invece, sono particolari, tracciano una direzione completamente nuova nella vita artistica di Pierre Guillaume , il loro compositore: "Se dovessi fare oggi un patchouli non sarebbe come Aomassai (di Parfumerie Generale, la sua prima linea): la mia sensibilità e la mia capacità tecnica sono cresciute, in questi anni”.

I must admit at first I was a little upset by the bottles, which aren't particularly appealing to me; however, touching them “live” gave me a better feeling than seeing them in pictures; the frosted mat glass feels comfortable and has perfect proportions, but the stopper still felt a little "cheap"... But fragrances, instead, are something different. They show a completely new direction in Pierre Guillaume’s artistic life : "If I had to make a patchouli-based scent today it wouldn’t be like Aomassai (by Parfumerie Generale, Pierre’s first line): my feelings and my technical skills have grown a lot in recent years."

Il quarto incontro del ciclo "Il Profumo, e gli artisti che lo compongono" avrà luogo giovedì 27 gennaio alle 18 presso la Profumeria Caleri (Via XXV Aprile, tel. 010581312). Durante l'incontro sarà possibile conoscere i lavori e lo stile compositivo di alcuni brands storici della profumeria, dei veri e propri "grandi classici" capaci di emozionarci ancora oggi. In particolare, parleremo di Creed, Penhaligon's, Robert Piguet, Lubin .
