The Grossmith saga
Grossmith company was founded in London in 1835 and quickly distinguished itself in the perfumery and luxury toiletries field; first John Grossmith, and then his son John Lipscomb Grossmith imported most of the raw materials they used for perfumes, soaps and powders directly from Grasse. At the 1851 Exhibition scents like "Stephanotis" and "Opoponax" allowed Grossmith -the only British firm- to win the gold medal.
