Bergamotto e Benzoino

Lo devo dire: io amo Tilda Swinton. La trovo un’attrice strepitosa, imprevedibile, emozionante, e soprattutto bellissima. La sua presenza in un film è per me motivo sufficiente per andare a vederlo. Quindi capite che Like This, l’ultima fragranza che Etat Libre d’Orange ha creato insieme a Tilda , dovevo assolutamente provarlo. Anche perché me ne aveva parlato più di un anno fa Etienne de Swardt (Ceo di Etat Libre d’Orange) e la mia aspettativa era ormai altissima.

Giovedì  21 aprile alle ore 18 si svolgerà il settimo incontro del ciclo "I Profumi e gli artisti che li compongono" presso la Profumeria Caleri di Genova (Via XXV Aprile).  L'incontro avrà il titolo " Artiste d'emozioni ", analizzeremo infatti le composizioni di due straordinarie artiste del profumo: Olivia Giacobetti e Mona di Orio. Bertrand Duchaufour is a Maestro at evoking very specific places in the past or present; if you wear Timbuktu, Dzonghka or Traversèe du Bosphore created for L’Artisan Parfumeur, Penhaligon's Sartoria l, Avignon and Kyoto for Comme des Garcons, or Sienne l'Hiver and Baume du Doge for Eau d'Italie, you know exactly what I mean (and if you’ve never worn anyone of these, well… what are you waiting for?). Bertrand’s clever technique combines both descriptive and abstract features, that is his fragrances recreate places both with caption (ie, "I smell mint, basil, sage ... we are definitely in a garden") and abstract notes, adding to the actual smells of the place the abstract idea we have of that place.

Bertrand Duchaufour è un Maestro nell'evocare luoghi ben specifici del presente o del passato. Se avete mai indossato Timbuktu, Dzonghka e Traversèe du Bosphore costruiti per l’Artisan Parfumeur, Sartorial per Penhaligon’s, Avignon e Kyoto per Comme des Garcons, o Sienne l’Hiver e Baume du Doge per Eau d’Italie, avete capito cosa intendo (e se non li avete mai indossati… beh dovreste proprio farlo!). Le fragranze di Bertrand raccontano i luoghi affiancando la didascalia (cioè “c’è della menta, del basilico, della salvia… siamo senz’altro in un orto”) all’astrattismo, cioè affiancando gli odori tipici del luogo, all’idea che noi abbiamo di quel luogo.

Calypso. E’ il nome della bellissima ninfa figlia di Atlante, che nell’Odissea amò Ulisse e lo tenne con sé sulla sua isola per sette anni, fino a che Zeus non inviò Ermes per convincerla a lasciarlo ripartire verso Itaca. Un nome adatto ad un profumo che mi è piaciuto subito; sostanzialmente si tratta di uno chypre reso appena più vivace e luminoso . Infatti, al posto del bergamotto degli chypre più classici qui troviamo del mandarino, e il muschio di quercia -che non si può usare quasi più-  ha lasciato il posto ad una nota ambrata meno notturna e turbolenta, ma certo più carezzevole.

Calypso. It 's the name of the beautiful nymph, daughter of God Atlas who, in the Odyssey,  loves Ulysses and keeps him on her island for seven years, until Zeus sends Hermes to convince her to allow Ulysses to leave the island for Ithaca. A most appropriate name for a perfume I liked immediately; essentially it’s a chypre rendered in a more lively and bright way . Instead of bergamot (a classic chypre note ) here there’s mandarin; and oakmoss a quite nocturnal and turbulent note that now is hardly used, gives way to a much more soothing amber note.

Le quattro “Candele dedicate alla lettura e alla scrittura” riportano i nomi degli scrittori a cui sono ispirate e i luoghi a loro cari. Zwegg (Rio de Janeiro) ha note di sandalo, patchouli, ylang ylang, Sand (Nohant) ha violetta, rosa, fresia, Blixen (Nairobi) ambra, muschio, legno di cedro e Maupassant (Etretat) mora, vaniglia e tuberosa. Mi sono piaciute molto soprattutto Blixen, che riporta atmosfere legate alla savana africana e alle maschere intarsiate di legno pregiato, e Maupassant, fiorito e insieme goloso, gioioso, molto “Riviera di Ponente”. Il packaging “shabby chic” è perfetto, ma quello che mi ha stregata è l’intensità dei quattro piacevolissimi accordi , che vi consiglio di andare ad annusare. Se state cercando una fragranza che vi accompagni nelle prime giornate all’aria aperta (o per farvi stare alla scrivania con il mood giusto, come se foste su un prato), provate questo. E’ l’ultima creazione di Patricia de Nicolai, una fragranza luminosa e sottile dagli accenti fioriti (mughetto, lilial), verdi (galbano) e delicatamente marini adattissima a questo periodo primaverile. Quello che apprezzo particolarmente del modo di comporre di Madame de Nicolai è la “mano” delicata, a volte romantica, con cui lavora. I suoi profumi non sono mai aggressivi , la loro presenza non s’impone e li percepisce solo chi li indossa. Questa caratteristica, che in genere riterrei un difetto (per me il profumo si deve sentire), in questo caso fa semplicemente parte della sensibilità di Madame de Nicolai, dotata di un gusto particolare per la raffinatezza non esibita, da scoprire solo avvicinandosi un poco .
