Il profumo emoziona anche quando non vuole: in questo caso vi racconto una sonora risata e un episodio un po’ vergognoso. Il primo. Ero in ufficio, tutta fiera di essere avvolta nel mio nuovo Back Afgano , che mi coccola e insieme mi eccita il sistema nervoso sussurrandomi oscenità di cui non vi racconto nulla (ma fate la prova e vedete se succede anche a voi). Non ci avevo fatto il bagno, ero stata attentissima. Arriva una collega e mi dice: “Ma cos’è quest’odore d’AGLIO? Stanno già cucinando qui sotto a quest’ora?” Annusa un po’ in giro con aria schifata e poi si avvicina “No no, sei proprio TU che sai d’aglio… ma cosa cavolo indossi oggi?”. E io:”Avanguardia Pura”. Mi aveva invitata perché stanno lanciando una nuova linea, e voleva presentarmi le fragranze di cui poi vi parlerò in un post apposito. La mia visita allo show room di Nobile 1942 però, è stata fantastica anche per un altro motivo: poter vedere il laboratorio. I met Stefania in the " Nobile 1942 " showroom in Arenzano. A place beside the river, between flocks of birds and trees. The perfect place to talk about perfume. Indossando Labdanum18 si capisce che è proprio da qui che nascono tutte le fragranze con note ambrate, spesso definite “orientali” per la loro opulenza e il loro mistero. E’ una nota che a me piace moltissimo per la sua personalità intensa e dolce ma non zuccherina capace di risvegliare i sensi. Soffice, carezzevole come un guanto di velluto, esprime una profondità ed una rotondità capaci di rendere sontuosamente sexy qualsiasi fragranza in cui partecipa. La prima volta che l’ho spruzzato ho subito pensato “Shalimar!” ed in effetti è uno dei componenti che più caratterizzano questo famoso orientale del secolo scorso. Imparare i grandi classici permette di scoprire la bellezza e la qualità nel moderno, per questo ci tengo tanto, a scoprire i doni della profumeria del passato. Qui il labdano è associato ad una nota di zibetto (non credo naturale, sarà zibettone) che lo rende ancora più animale, caldo, intenso. Le Labo insiste sulla non massificazione delle fragranze, sulla non omologazione del gusto e dello stile, ed infatti sebbene le loro creature siano molto diverse tra loro, create da artisti con gusti e percorsi differenti, si sente la firma del marchio, una firma che parla di misura, di una raffinatezza sobria e non esibita, dove però c’è spazio per qualche eccentricità che regala personalità alla linea nel suo insieme. These days I'm wandering among Le Labo fragrances and especially Rose31, Labdanum18, Vetiver46 and Oud27. I am writing about them because I found them particularly convincing, modern, creative, yet not too clean and sparkling. They retain a "dirty-ish" quality which I like very much. I invite you to take a look at their website with the artistic manifesto, and at an animation I found really amusing. Le Labo insists on the non-massification of fragrances, non-omologation of taste and style, and in fact their creatures are very different, skillfully put together by artists with different tastes and paths, and they all show the distinctive sign of the mark, whispering measure, simple refinement not at all showy, but where there is room for eccentricity that gives personality to the line as a whole. But I soon dropped the bla bla and focused on fragrances. I started with Rose31 because I know that this note and I have little to share, but I must say I really liked this one.

In questi giorni ho deciso di confrontare 3 profumi Chypre che Nynive e io abbiamo trovato su Ebay. In these days I decided to compare 3 Chypre scents that Nynive and I found on Ebay. The first is a 1930 release from the firm Ivel, the second is legendary Coty ’s Chypre (1917) and the third is Chypre 55 by Regency55 , of which I couldn’t find references on any of my books, but the bottle could be the from the 40s. Even if the classification of perfume is fairly tricky, with many perfumes fitting easily in more categories, Chypre may display more fruity, flowery, green/fougère or leather/animalic aspects. But when you smell a captivating contrast between brilliant opening notes of citrus (especially bergamot), and woody/green, rough notes like oakmoss, galbanum or warm and spicy as cistus labdanum or sandalwood, usually you are smelling a Chypre scent. I would like to thank Basenotes for the great work to spread correct knowledge about the scented world, and all the friends that have B&B candidate and then voted: their support and appreciation is for me a push forward and deeper into this subject I love so much. What I feel important is not so much to win, but to broaden the conversation on perfume, explore, encourage, stimulate, learn, communicate, so that more people will get closer to the magic of perfume and its art. Domenica scorsa sono andata ad Iseo, insieme ad Adjiumi e Diakranis, nel bellissimo negozio Soffittoviola, per far conoscere le fragranze per la casa di Casaroma e far quattro chiacchiere sul profumo. Ieri ero in vena di pulizie. Ogni tanto mi prende quella che chiamo "la pulirella": sento un intenso desiderio che l'aria e la luce circolino meglio, così inizio al mattino e fino alla sera riordino, pulisco e soprattutto elimino. Mi chiedo se gli oggetti che ho intorno mi servono sul serio, e quando una cosa non l'ho usata per almeno 6 mesi, significa che non ne ho effettivamente bisogno. E la elimino. Alla fine della giornata la casa ha tutto un altro aspetto e l'ingresso si riempie di borse piene di libri, scarpe, vestiti, oggetti, videocassette, cd e quant'altro va messo di nuovo in circolo perchè ha fatto il mio tempo e ora potrebbe essere più utile a qualcun altro. Una delle cose che invece è finita nell'area "buttare nelle campane della raccolta differenziata" era un piccolo flacone di vetro trasparente, assolutamente anonimo, che credevo vuoto; l'ho messo lì e me ne sono dimenticata. Prima di conoscere Alessandro Gualtieri, non avevo capito un’acca di quello che ha creato finora, e adesso mi è chiaro. Le sue opere mi risultavano piacevoli, in qualche modo tumultuose e iconoclaste, ma ero cosciente di non averne intuito l’essenza. Non che l’abbia intuita ora, ma almeno sento che qualcosa di vero mi ha toccata. E’ stato necessario incontrare Alessandro, per capirci qualcosa di più, e forse questo significa che le sue fragranze sono così parte di lui, come un sogno, come un’ossessione inconfessabile, che senza aver visto la persona muoversi, parlare, gesticolare, non è possibile entrare nel mondo dei suoi sogni e delle sue ossessioni.
