Bergamotto e Benzoino

Giovedì 21 è previsto il terzo incontro da Caleri. Parleremo di come vengono estratte le note legnose e resinose, e come vengono usate nei profumi d'arte . Non parleremo di tutte, purtroppo è stato necessario operare delle scelte (c'è un limite a quello che si può raccontare e sniffare in un'ora e mezza). La scelta è caduta su: legno di Sandalo, legno di Cedro, legno di Guaiaco, Patchouli, Incenso, Benzoino, Oud . Mi sono rimaste fuori alcune resine che amo (Mirra e Opoponax, Galbano, Balsamo del Tolu) e alcuni legni poco usati. Pazienza, sarà per una prossima occasione. Intanto sono arrivati i sintetici che farò annusare accanto ai naturali per capire le differenze e le particolarità. Quali profumi annuseremo per capire come vengono usate le note? Sorpresa! Per ora non vi anticipo niente, ma ci saranno  Bond N.9,  Honorè de Pres, Villoresi, Creed, Byredo,  Mona di Orio, Nez à Nez, L'Artisan Parfumeur...  Thursday 21the third meeting at Caleri's will take plac

Isabelle Doyen è conosciuta ed apprezzata per le molte fragranze della linea Annick Goutal da lei composte, poi un paio d'anni fa è stata chiamata anche dal creatore del marchio Les Nez per creare le prime tre fragranze ( L'Antimatière, Let Me play the Lion e The Unicorn Spell ) con cui lanciare la nuova linea. Nel frattempo sono uscite anche Manoumalia (di Sandrine Videault, che mi è molto piaciuto) e Turtle Vetiver , che non credo sia ancora arrvato da noi.

Isabelle Doyens is known and appreciated for many fragrances in the Annick Goutal line she composed, and a couple of years ago she was called by the founder of the brand Les Nez to create the first three fragrances ( L'Antimatière, Let Me Play the Lion and The Unicorn Spell ) of his new line. Now, other two fragrances have been added to the line: Manoumalia (by Sandrine Videault, which I enjoyed very much) and Turtle Vetiver .

...and then there are those works of human intellect that cause excitement and a sense of reverence for their greatness. They'll leave you amazed, shocked, speechless, unable to fully explain the experience. Of Leonardo's Virgin of the Rocks we can tell the subject, the shady atmosphere, dark soft colors, but this is nothing compared to the experience of being there, right in front of the picture and looking at it, letting it enter through the eyes into your nervous system and from there into your blood, carrying you for a while in a higher sphere of being. This is such a perfume.

... e poi ci sono quelle opere dell'intelletto umano che, quando si incontrano, provocano commozione e un senso di reverenza per la loro grandezza. Si resta stupefatti, scioccati, senza parole che possano realmente, spiegare l'esperienza. Della Vergine delle Rocce di Leonardo possiamo raccontare il soggetto, la luce crepuscolare, i colori scuri e morbidi, ma tutto questo non è niente rispetto all'esperienza di stare lì davanti al dipinto e guardarlo, lasciandolo entrare dentro di noi attraverso le pupille e lasciando che la sua magìa scorra nelle nostre vene insieme al sangue e ci trasporti, per un pò, in una sfera più alta dell'essere. Ecco, questo profumo mi lascia silenziosa e commossa.

This year, my personal Santa Claus has come up with a gift of non-smelling nature, so I decided to give one myself. Two, to be honest. The first is Kiehl's Musk Oil in the roll-on oil version. I'd smelled the original once a few years ago, and I wasn't particularly happy with it because of a slightly floral aftertaste that whipped off the animal side I like so much.

Avete ricevuto regali profumati per Natale? Il Babbo ha letto bene la letterina o ha fatto di testa sua? Quest'anno il mio Babbo Natale personale ha pensato ad un regalo di natura non profumosa, quindi ho pensato di farmene uno io, e doppio per di più. Il primo l'ho acquistato a Milano perchè a Genova non ce l'ha nessuno: il Musk Oil di Kiehl's . Ho preso l'olio in versione roll, on da massaggiare sulla pelle con la pallina. Io l'originale l'avevo annusato una volta sola qualche anno fa, e non mi aveva particolarmente colpita, a causa di un retrogusto leggermente fiorito che mi toglieva la sferzata animale che invece a me piace tanto.

Stephane Humbert Lucas è impegnato nella creazione del nuovo profumo della linea Nez à Nez "Hiroshima Mon Amour" e mentre prepara la fragranza sta anche progettando le immagini che l'accompagneranno. Essendo principalmente un pittore, lavorare sulla parte visiva per lui è senz'altro più facile: questa è l'immagine che sarà sulla scatola del profumo. Mi dicono che le scritte bianche su nero non si leggono bene, così sto provando soluzioni diverse. Ma non sono convinta... Some people told me that white letters on black doesn't read very well, so I'm trying different solutions. But I'm not convinced...
