Bergamotto e Benzoino

Ebbene, ci siamo, oggi è il 9 dicembre, e ho deciso di non viverlo come una data triste ma come un momento felice. Oggi respirerò anche un po' per lei, riderò anche un po' per lei, mi siederò su una panchina al sole un po' anche per lei. E stasera, brinderò a lei con un bicchiere di rosso.  E' vero, un anno fa Mona è andata via, ma è altrettanto vero che finchè è stata qui, non ha sprecato il suo tempo e ci ha lasciato molto, di cui esserle grati.  Oggi mio marito e io abbiamo scelto il suo Oud per accompagnarci nella giornata, e per spazzare via ogni eventuale tristezza.

Well, here we are: today is December 9th, and I decided not to live this as a sad day, but as a happy moment. Today I'm breathing also for her, I'm laughing also for her, I'm sitting on a sunny bench in the park also for her. And tonight, I'm raising a glass of red wine to her.  It 's true, a year ago Mona passed away, but it's also true that as long as she was here, she chose not to waste her time, and left us much to be grateful for. Today my husband and I chose her Oud to sweep away any sadness.

Oggi indosso Musc , della linea Les Nombres d'Or di Mona di Orio. Mi sono resa conto di non aver mai dedicato un post a questa fragranza, eppure è ben costruita, originale, emozionante. Probabilmente, in altri momenti della mia vita ho preferito le sue fragranze più intense e vibranti, come Amitys o Nuit Noire, e ho lasciato indietro quelle giocate più sulla delicatezza. Il suo Musc è una fragranza angelica, suggerisce una purezza e un candore celestiali, una dolcezza malinconica che l'avvicina all'Eau d'Hiver (Ellena per Frederic Malle) e Apres L'Ondèe (Guerlain). 

Today I'm wearing Musc , from Mona di Orio's line Les Nombres d'Or. I realized that I hadn't dedicated a proper post to this fragrance, but in fact it's well built, original, moving in a very special way. Probably, at other times in my life I preferred Mona's more intense and vibrant side, as in Amytis or Nuit Noire, and I left behind the gentler ones. Her Musc is a fragrance of angelic purity, suggesting a heavenly whiteness, a melancholic sweetness reminiscent of l'Eau d'Hiver (J.C. Ellena for Frederic Malle) and Apres l'Ondèe (Guerlain).

Questa settimana, dal 2 al 9 dicembre sarà dedicata a Mona di Orio e alle sue composizioni, che indosso con gioia non solo perchè sono bellissime, ma anche perchè mi ricordano lei, con la sua vivacità e una sensibilità che le permetteva di vedere anche cose che agli altri sfuggivano (e probabilmente, se devo pensare ad una definizione di "artista", in effetti penso a qualcuno che vede cose invisibili agli altri). Ieri e oggi ho indossato Etoile de Hollande , una fragranza dominata da un nota di rosa turca, che mi ha ricordato il rossetto rosso e i guantini  -dello stesso colore- che Mona indossava l'ultima volta che ci siamo parlate. 

This week, December 2 to 9 will be dedicated to Mona di Orio and her compositions, which I often wear not only because they're beautiful, but also because they remind me of her, a lovely young woman bursting with energy, and a special sensitivity allowing her to see things the others can't see (if I must define an "artist", in fact I'd say "someone who sense things invisible to others"). Yesterday and today I've been wearing Etoile de Hollande , a fragrance dominated by a note of Turkish rose, which reminded me of the red lipstick and gloves Mona was wearing the last time we spoke.

The catalog of the exhibition "The Art of Scent" , opened November 20th at the MAD Museum in New York is now available in pre-sale at the Museum's online shop. I leave it to Chandler Burr, the curator of the exhibition (who also authored the catalog), to present it at best: "You will be able to take home the exhibition -or buy the exhibition without coming to New York! The catalog contains a 5 ml vial of 11 of the 12 olfactory masterpieces on display at the Exhibition, plus a booklet of 11 essays on the art historical context of each of the 11 works."
