Bergamotto e Benzoino

In questi giorni ho potuto provare con calma le tre fragranze del progetto “ Ephemera ” e ve ne voglio parlare. Bass, Noise e Drone (questi i tre nomi) sono profumi piacevoli e interessanti, ma quello che mi ha catturata è l'abbinamento tra suono, video e profumo. Il progetto globale è del collettivo polacco “ Unsound ”, che esplora un'idea di arte cinestesica, capace cioè di coinvolgere più sensi. I tre video che compongono la parte visuale dell'installazione sono stati stati affidati al videoartista Marcel Weber, mentre i tre pezzi musicali che accompagnano i video hanno tre autori diversi: S teve Goodman aka Kode9 (Bass), Ben Frost (Noise) and Tim Hecker (Drone). La parte olfattiva è curata da Geza Schoen (Escentric Molecules, Ormonde Jayne, Biehl's etc).   L'idea è quella di annusare ogni fragranza mentre si guarda e ascolta con le cuffie, il videoclip abbinato .

These days I could try three fragrances of the " Ephemera " project: Bass, Noise and Drone (these are the three names) are pleasant and interesting scents, but what captured me was the combination of sound, video and scent. The overall project is curated by Polish collective " Unsound ", which explores an idea of kinesthetic art, which is able to involve more senses. Video artist Marcel Weber has authored the three videos that make up the visual part of the project, while the three pieces of music that go with the videos have three different authors: Steve Goodman aka Kode9 (Bass), Ben Frost (Noise) and Tim Hecker (Drone). The olfactory part is created by by Geza Schon (Escentric Molecules, Ormonde Jayne, Biehl's etc).  The idea is to smell each fragrance while watching -and listening with headphones- the video clips.

Con questi due nuovi profumi la collezione di Ineke (il suo sito è  qui ) raggiunge la lettera I.  Infatti i nomi dei suoi profumi iniziano con una lettera dopo l'altra dell'alfabeto: la A di “ After my own heart ” (un fiorito fresco e rosato, etereo e piuttosto romantico), la B di “ Balmy days and Sundays ” (uno dei miei preferiti, un fiorito verde delicato ed esile, molto primaverile), la C di “ Chemical bonding ”(un muschio bianco pulito e luminoso introdotto da un bel bouquet agrumato)... e così via fino alla H di " Hothouse Flower" , una gardenia tra le più belle e convincenti in circolazione.  Questo fino a un paio di mesi fa, perchè al Pitti Ineke ha presentatola J e la I: “ Jack+Jackie” e “Idyllwild” . Idyllwild è una fragranza che porta il nome di un luogo in California caratterizzato da foreste selvagge e una natura prorompente, ed è un luogo molto amato dai californiani. With these two additions, Ineke's collection ( website here ) reaches the letter I. In fact the names of her perfumes begin with a subsequent letter of the alphabet: A for " After my own heart " (a fresh, rosy floral ethereal and quite romantic), B for " Balmy days and Sundays " (one of my favorites, a floral green scent, delicate, outdoors-y and spring-evoking), C for " Chemical bonding " (a clean, bright white musks bouquet introduced by a crisp citrus accord) and so on until “ Hothouse Flower ”, one of the most elegant and convincing gardenia scents around. During Pitti Immagine Fragranze exhibition, Perris Monte Carlo (website here ) presented its new line of Extraits ( Imperial Oud, Rose de Taif, Patchouli Nosy Be and Ylang Ylang Nosy Be ). I swooned over the beauty of these raw material, highlighted by a simple, linear structure , aiming only at exposing them at their best. These four fragrances, in fact, don't focus on stylistic exercises or compositional refinement, but on Gian Luca Perris' love for exceptionally “speaking” raw materials. In his worldwide research he has found some really beautiful, complex, multifaceted ones, and made them shine in these extraits. The Rose de Taif , compared to the edp version in the line has lost its “typically Taif” citrus freshness and gained strength and body, with a surprising liqueur-y side. Perris Montecarlo ( sito qui ) ha presentato durante Pitti Fragranze la sua linea di Extraits ( Oud Imperial, Rose de Taif, Patchouli Nosy Be e Ylang Ylang Nosy Be ) e io sono rimasta conquistata dalla bellezza delle materie prime, messe in risalto da una struttura semplice e lineare che mira esclusivamente a valorizzarle al meglio. In queste quattro fragranze, infatti, non troverete esercizi stilistici o raffinatezze compositive, non è questo il punto. Il punto è che Gian Luca Perris è un appassionato di materie prime -un appassionato vero- e nel suo lavoro di ricerca in giro per il mondo ne ha trovate alcune davvero belle, complesse, sfaccettate, che in questi estratti si sentono così bene che quasi commuovono. Inizio con la Rosa Taif , che rispetto alla versione in edp -eau de parfum- ha perso la freschezza agrumata tipica della Taif e ha guadagnato intensità e corpo, con un sorprendente lato liquoroso. Pichola è il nuovo uscito nella linea Neela Vermeire Creations ( website here ) ; si ispira al paesaggio incantato del lago Pichola, nell'Udaipur (Rajahstan, India), con le sue rive boscose e gli splendidi palazzi costruiti direttamente sull'acqua. Poiché l'ambientazione è quanto di più ricco e maestoso si possa immaginare, la fragranza che ne porta il nome non poteva essere da meno: un tripudio di agrumi, fiori bianchi, legni e spezie, preziosi e colorati come gioielli della corona .  All'avvio gli agrumi dolci e speziati (mandarino e bergamotto) esplodono in mille scintille di luce, accompagnando in scena un raffinato bouquet di fiori bianchi: generose assolute di rosa, gelsomino sambac, tuberosa, fiordarancio e ylang ylang offrono una sensazione di sontuosa ricchezza , come dei sari di seta colorata (gli abiti tradizionali delle donne indiane) che sventolano al sole. Le spezie (cardamomo, cannella, zafferano) sono quasi impercettibili, servono perlopiù a bilan

Pichola is the new addition in  Neela Vermeire Creations line ( website here ); it's inspired by the enchanting landscape of Lake Pichola, in Udaipur (Rajahstan) , with its wooded banks and incredibly beautiful buildings situated directly on water.  Since the settings of Pichola lake is as rich and majestic as you can imagine, the fragrance bearing the same name had to be just as majestic: a bouquet of sultry citrus (mandarin, bergamot), white flowers , spices (cardamom, cinnamon, saffron) and woods (sandalwood, Haiti vetiver and benjoin) as precious as crown jewels. At the opening, sweet and spicy citrus burst into a thousand sparks of light, and then lead a  bunch of sound white flowers  on stage: rose and jasmine sambac absolutes, tuberose, ylang ylang, orange blossom, offering an almost tactile  feeling of sumptuousness. Gli ingredienti per una presentazione da ricordare c'erano tutti: un pubblico composto da un centinaio di persone attentissime , curiose, desiderose di lasciarsi accompagnare nell'esplorazione del mondo profumato.  Una giornalista-moderatrice, Paola Delle Molle , affascinata ed affascinante.   Grace , proprietaria dell'omonima profumeria, squisita padrona di casa.  Ed in effetti la chiacchierata organizzata da  Pordenonelegge  sui temi del profumo ( sito qui ) ha avuto un successo che non mi aspettavo, con il negozio affollato e molta gente in piedi fuori dal negozio che non riusciva ad entrare.  Merito dell'organizzazione, e di un evento che ormai raduna decine di migliaia di affezionati che affollano Pordenone arrivando da tutto il Friuli, dal Veneto e un po' da tutte le regioni.  Io mi sono sentita onorata per aver potuto partecipare e ringrazio Grace e l'organizzazione tutta per avermi invitata.  Alla prossima! E anche quest'anno Pitti Fragranze ( sito qui ) non ha deluso le mie attese: c'era davvero tanta, tantissima roba da annusare , pure troppa, tanto che un giorno non solo non è più sufficiente per girare tutti gli stand più importanti ma ce ne vogliono almeno due, se non tutti e tre. Segno che questa fiera continua a crescere e attrae ogni anno sempre più espositori e compratori . Per quanto riguarda i marchi in esposizione ho visto stand presi d'assalto e sempre affollati, il che, credo, sia un buon segno. Ho partecipato al talk sul Bergamotto calabro di Capua moderato da Cristian Cavagna, fondatore del Forum Adjiumi ( qui ). Si è parlato di come il bergamotto viene prodotto con interessanti immagini e ne parlerò presto. L'installazione  " OGGETTI D'ARTE. This year's edition of Pitti Fragranze ( english website here ) did not disappoint my expectations: there really was lots and lots of stuff to smell, even too much, so much that one day is no longer enough to visit all the most important brands , it takes at least two, while the three are a right amount of time required to visit the established ones and discover the "Spring" section. This means that this exhibition keeps growing and attracting more and more exhibitors and buyers every year.  As for the brands on display many booths were constantly crowded, which I believe is a good sign. I attended the talk on Capua Calabrian Bergamot, moderated by Cristian Cavagna, founder of Adjiumi Forum  ( here ). Images were shown of harvesting and processing the fruits.
